Set between the historic city of Cambridge and the old market
town of St Neots, is Cambourne, a new community combining
the benefits of life in the Cambridgeshire countryside with
a network of modern travel connections.
Situated in the heart of Cambridgeshire, nine miles from Cambridge
itself, Cambourne is to be found off the A428 which stretches
between Cambridge and St Neots, and the A1198, which runs
from Huntingdon to Royston. The dualling of the A428 has Government
approval and stretches are already operational. It is just
six miles from the M11 motorway at junctions 13 and 14, and
11 miles from the A1, yet once at Cambourne the fast paced
world of today's travel is quickly forgotten.
With the assistance of local authorities
and the relevant companies, buses run, linking Cambourne to
the surrounding area as well as to the city of Cambridge,
to serve the community.
Wider public transport connections to the
rest of the country are available from the mainline train
stations at Cambridge and at
St Neots, where journeys into London's Kings Cross on the
fast through-service take approximately 50 minutes, the all-stops
service taking approximately 15 minutes longer. Cambridge
also offers a rail service into Liverpool Street, directly
into the
City of London.
The increasingly popular airports of Stansted
and Luton are approximately 34 miles away to the south and
offers an excellent range of services to the international
traveller.
